Day 24 - Making Up Afterwards

Twenty-fourth day of the 30 day challenge (List HERE). I will be intermingling 2012 and 2014 Raphril for whatever fits the prompt better. I will also be putting these in a Master Post with all of the prompts and as I finish them, a link to the completed piece.

As anyone who has had an argument knows -- the best part about it -- the making up. I picture after their argument, Raph storms off (per the norm). April, while still frustrated, pouts and seethes a bit before just releasing the tension by ultimately crying. Raph, returning, witnesses her crying. Feels HORRIBLE about it and wants to do everything to make it up to her. Pulling a page from Mikey's book, knows he needs to bring her something.

The spring air, feeling nicely pleasant against her tear-stained cheeks, removes a bit of the tension still bubbling in her chest. After he stormed off over an hour ago and the bitter calm that followed, just made her feel worse for starting the argument in the first place. Her anger at him for going out for patrol that night wasn't unfounded but perhaps a bit unfair. As much as she wanted to keep him safely to herself she knew he had a duty to this city. A vow he promised before he had made way before they even met. But it scared her. Even knowing he was literally bulletproof, all she had to do was remember when Shredder nearly killed him by crushing his shell beneath his foot.

That alone was enough to want to keep him safely tucked away. She admitted he most likely felt the same regarding her safety, but she didn't go out and look for danger like he did on a daily basis. She just wanted to tell him that but him an his macho behavior wouldn't even stomach the idea of her coddling him and worrying over him when he sure as hell could take care of himself. She sighed deeply and put her face in her hands. She looked up for a moment to take in her beautiful view of the brick wall of the building beside them from her balcony. She supposed she was grateful for the hidden aspect of her apartment which made Raph and the rest of the guys coming and going much easier for them.

She started when she heard a soft cling against the railing on her left. Seeing Raph propped against the railing, his face so utterly sad it made her heart gallop in her chest and the back of her eyes to burn with unshed tears. When his hand appeared from behind his shell, she swear her heart stopped. In his massive three fingered hand laid the most beautiful bouquet of flowers she had ever received. She immediately sought out his eyes and saw the corner of his mouth curve up into a smile. She returned it tearily before standing up straight and gently taking the flowers from his hand.

"I'm sorry." he said softly. April closed her eyes when she heard it. Even after all this time she knew how hard it was for him to apologize and she never took him saying those words lightly.

"Me too." she said softly, playing with the soft pink petals of of the flowers. All of a sudden, seeing the bouquet, his warm smile, knowing the miracle of his life, their relationship, and just realizing how lucky she was, she ran forward, her arms wrapping around his neck from where he still was propped against her balcony. Her face was pressed deeply into his neck as she took in the scent of his skin, the smell of a cool spring, light sweat, and leather made her groan softly, holding him all the tighter.

It was only a moment later when she felt his arms wrap around her and she just relaxed into his embrace. "Wow... I should bring you flowers more often...." She couldn't stop the laughter from bubbling out of her throat as her arms tightened around him.
